Cavers

New for 2008: To participate in a 2008 trip, agents must have at least FIVE bookings registered in the Loyalty Points Program.

How much does my trip cost? The registration fee is $149.00. This fee includes processing of your fam enrollment, 4 nights accommodations (double occupancy), scheduled meals, transfers, site inspections, specialized tours and on site educational seminars. Note:You will also be asked to contribute money for tipping (see below).
What qualifications do I need to attend a CTI 102 Field Trip? You must be a full-time travel agent who has completed the CTI 101 Course and a holder of a valid CLIA/IATAN card. (Some trips may have other requirements; please see calendar.) You should also be mentally and physically prepared to participate in a working fam. Please note that all itineraries are developed to make the most of the short duration of each trip. Agents should be in good physical condition to keep up with the scheduled events. If you have a physical condition that may keep you from doing so, please contact our office to inquire as to the rigor of the trip in which you plan to participate. Please also keep in mind the climatic conditions (i.e. humidity, season, temperatures).
How do I enroll? First, select a trip and date from our Calendar (link below).
Second, contact your preferred airline and reserve space in accordance with the Airline Reservations Procedures information (link below). Note: Carriers require a valid IATAN card which must be presented upon check-in.
Third, complete the Enrollment Form (link below) which will include space to indicate your airline arrival information.
Finally, send requested materials along with your check (agency or personal) for your registrations fee to Cancun Tourism Institute's trip administrator, Destination Ventures Ltd. at the address below. (Trip operation is subject to reaching a required niminum of 10 agents per trip.)
What will the trip itinerary be? Each trip is customized to maximize your valuable time. Typically, your trip will include numerous property inspections, 6 hours of classroom training, an orientation sightseeing tours, and dining at varied locations. Free time will be somewhat limited due to the short duration of each trip. Our trip themes indicate the types of sites to be explored during each trip. Click here for sample itineraries (.pdf).
How large will my group be? Group size will be no more that 20 agents per trip. (Trip operation is subject to reaching a required minimum of 10 agents per trip.)
When does the itinerary begin? "Day 1" of your trip is mostly a travel day, and the first group event will normally be scheduled for that evening. The last day of the trip will usually include a breakfast, but is mostly used for leisure and/or travel time depending on individual flight schedules. Click here for sample itineraries (.pdf).
May I take my spouse or others along? These trips are limited to qualified, full-time travel agents who are graduates of the Cancun CTI 101 Program.
How shall I get to my gateway city? This portion of the journey is your responsibility.
Who handles my airline reservations? This is done BY YOU via the program co-sponsors (Aeromexico, Alaska Airlines, Mexicana Airlines). Each carrier has its own policies, restrictions, black-outs, and rules. We suggest you FIRST investigate which carrier works best from your departure city. Then contact the carrier regarding availability. (See Airline Procedures link at the left.)
What other costs am I responsible for? First, you will be responsible for your own travel arrangements. Second, you will be responsible for any transfers, ground transportation, and meals not covered on your itinerary (including any necessary overnight accommodations and meals prior to and/or after your inspection trip due to connection schedules from/to your city of origin). Third, any incidental charges (mini-bar consumption, telephone calls, purchases, etc.) will be your responsibility. And fourth, any departure taxes (U.S. or Mexican) are your responsibility. Currently these taxes total approximately $85 US plus any applicable PFCs.
How are tips handled? You'll be asked to contribute $30 US toward payment of all meal tips and guide/driver trip tips. This will be collected at your first organized event by our escort or destination host.
Is the $149 fee refundable? Unfortunately, no. In the event that you must cancel your participation, we will do everything possible to reassign you to a later inspection trip providing space is available. An additional fee of $50 applies if you are rescheduled.
May I extend my trip or arrive early? The selected airline will determine if pre and post trips are allowed. These arrangements must be coordinated by you personally, but consult the Airline Procedures (link at the left) for any exclusions.
When will I receive my trip documents and final itinerary? Itinerary details will be sent via email approximately one week prior to your date of travel. Fam documents will be received at the first group meeting in Cancun.
Who is administering the program? Like the CTI 101 Program, the CTI 102 Program is administered and coordinated by Destination Ventures, Ltd. Based in Bend, Oregon, we are working in cooperation with the Cancun Convention & Visitors Bureau.
